This remodeling allowed us to better enjoy the space that was previously not put to use in our basement, such as the washer/dryer area, the small bathroom, and storage area. Through Moss' suggestion, we are now able to maximize the use of all the space in the basement, turning it into a highly desirable living space while maintaining the functionality of the area. We also updated our two bathrooms , now all our bedrooms have a spa like feels .

Moss consultants, including Marta, Liz and Nick as well as the construction crew ( Jeffery, Kai and Joe) foreman, including Marty Moss provided insightful guidance and suggestions to ensure that I can achieve my vision in this project.

Good luck getting through the "call" center. After several tries. I got a call back from an associate. I called her back several times being promised to call back that never happened. When I finally got through her voicemail was full. I ended up having to text with her as she would not pick up the phone. Her remedy to helping me was for me to go to their website. Having already had a set of Plan That moss had done for the previous owner of my house. I was trying to talk to a person.. If I'm gonna spend a quarter million dollars on building a house you would think that someone would actually pick up the phone. But I felt like I was in a very long teenage conversation by text. Grossly unprofessional and not what I expected from Moss Or any other builder. I have been in contracting and real estate for 21 years. This is not how to treat your clients and customers.

We chose Moss for our 2022 basement remodel, and we're so glad we did! Our project was a full remodel of a partially finished basement, including a full bathroom remodel, wall removal, new flooring, new lighting, and electrical work to get old wiring up to code. We were impressed by the team we worked with at Moss throughout the process, and we're delighted with the final product.

Our project manager Tyler was an excellent communicator - he kept us up to speed on all aspects of the process and was highly accessible, responding quickly to any questions we had along the way. We enjoyed the collaborative design process and appreciated how mindful the team was about sticking to our budget. Throughout the design process, the team was very transparent about what choices would increase costs and/or extend the timeline, which helped us make smart tradeoffs.

The work itself was high quality, and the workers in our home were uniformly thoughtful and courteous. They also did a great job protecting the rest of our house from the construction dust.

We've just finished the design phase of a bathroom + sunroom + garage renovation for our 1885 house here in Herndon, VA. The team has been fun, thorough, available and just plain smart since day 1. We went through a lot of design changes (I've now seen more shades of blue than any other human alive) and are excited to see it come to life.

Demolition work just started a couple of weeks ago, but the team has been meticulously clean and thoughtful. Working on these old houses can be a bit tricky but these guys really know what they're doing.

We used Moss for an extensive home renovation to our Vienna, Virginia colonial in 2021/2022. When we embarked on this project, it was important to us to select a partner that would do beautiful work with minimal hassle. We had Moss build us a 500 sq ft addition in the back of our home with a bar in it. We chose them based on great reviews from the internet as well as fellow neighbors and we were not disappointed! Our experience from start to finish was amazing. The estimator (DJ), the designer (Kristen), project manager (Patrick and Bob) were all a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail was second to none and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. The Moss contractors (Lonny, Steve, and Jim) and all the subcontractors that came out were also all friendly, competent, and professional and were all a pleasure to meet and work with as well. We want to especially give a shout-out to our project manager Patrick. He had the immense task of managing this entire project from start to finish on top of us having a lot of custom requests and changes along the way. He made sure to ensure our satisfaction by taking each new request we had and making sure they were completed. I wouldn't say we weren't the easiest of clients so we greatly appreciate Patrick for dealing with us in such a respectful, professional, and kind manner. It was great to know we had him in our corner during this process. We highly recommend Moss for all your remodeling and addition needs!

We moved to Virginia from North Carolina and had to compromise on buying a house we loved, but one that did not have a garage. We knew we had to build a garage and sought the advice of several Fairfax county residents who recommended Moss to us. While we interviewed a handful of building contractors, none impressed us more than Moss. They shared the capability of being able to design and visualize what the add-on structure would look like.

As a an engineer and former construction PM, I am probably the absolute hardest customer to have. My standards for quality, project execution, and service delivery are ridiculously high. The design process took slightly longer than I expected due to miscommunication with a designer and scheduling hiccups. Then we had a change in PMs and the difference was night and DAY! I expressed my concerns, and instead of getting defensive, the senior PM, Matt (who is absolutely excellent) who took over, TOOK THE SUGGESTIONS and said they would be relayed so the team would improve on their processes. He approached the situation with empathy. He actually took such a strong lead on the project and has executed the project with the greatest professionalism, attention to detail, and responsiveness.

In addition to having an online platform for customers and MOSS to have a common understanding of the aspects of the building project, Moss has fantastic people like Matt. He has been a superb communicator and honored our "asks." Never once has he made my inquiries or concerns seem like too much or an annoyance. I have been completely blown away and impressed by their kindness, integrity, and how they have worked tremendously hard and run to ground the important details when it comes to permitting, code, and compliance.

If you need a building project, without a doubt, ask for Matt/David to lead it. If I had a construction company, I'd try to steal these talented PMs in a heartbeat.

This is our second kitchen remodel with MOSS Building & Design. The first being at our old house 10 years ago. We always knew we wanted to update this kitchen but are just now able to do so. We are planning basically an entire middle floor upgrade, with walls being knocked down and the entire kitchen space being changed. Right now we are mid process, having met with our designer and project manager several times to nail down the cabinet design (who knew how many options there are now!?) and to pick out all our selections. Our designer, William, has been available at all times to answer questions and has been great about going over our measurements and offering ideas and feedback - and also, has been very accommodating to our requests and changes. We'll be beginning the process in early 2021 and can't wait to see it all unfold and to enjoy our new kitchen next year!

Wow! This company does killer work. The attention to detail, the use of technology in communication, qualified employees that have passed back ground checks, and responsiveness are the things that stand out. It seems that most of the pricing on these projects were very close, so I'm happy I decided to go with Moss Building and Design. Jason Hampel is leading a customer focused company. I think they also won best places to work, and I am not surprised. Anyway, check out this steam shower. Really great this winter, getting in this hot steam. Thanks Jason and the Moss team.

Moss cut corners at multiple steps in our project. It was a very simple project - a single room with no plumbing. It was like there was no project manager at all. We had to stay on top of the project and when they tried to pass off quick fixes, we'd have to insist on the top management coming out and then finally get the "A" team of carpenters. The entire team from architect to project and production managers all changed during the course of our project - so clearly there are retention issues in this company. Now, nearly a year after the project was "done", we are finding that the roof was never fully finished! This project also ultimately cost MUCH more than projected. The only reason I gave 2 stars is that with our diligence we ultimately got the room we wanted. But we will never work w/ Moss again. This finding of the roof problem was the final straw which is what prompted the review write up.
