In 2023, LandDesign embarked on an exciting journey with SouthPark Community Partners to define the future of SouthPark. The release of the SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan marks a new chapter for this community, building on its 50-year legacy as a commercial destination. As authors of the Plan, we envisioned a framework to guide decision-making that will strengthen SouthPark’s community fabric by expanding the open space network, improving conditions for pedestrians, and increasing transportation options through the creation of the city's first Mobility Innovation District. The most critical and complex aspect of the Downtown Kannapolis Revitalization project is the expansive infrastructure beneath the surface. In anticipation of the city's long-term growth, we integrated functional infrastructure improvements, including water, sewer, natural gas, electricity, and stormwater, that allow the downtown to grow over the next several decades.
