Small business owners often avoid difficult conversations with employees, vendors, partners, or clients because they feel uncomfortable or risky. Yet unaddressed issues can quickly impact performance, cash flow, morale, and customer relationships. In this interactive session, presented by Debra Mitchell, Founder and CEO of Inspired Consulting Solutions, LLC, participants will learn a clear and practical structure for preparing and leading high stakes conversations with confidence. We will focus on how to identify the real issue, communicate expectations clearly, respond to defensiveness without escalating tension, and reach agreements that protect both the relationship and the business. Attendees will practice applying the framework to real situations they are currently facing and leave with a repeatable approach they can use immediately.

Join Dave Remick, Executive Director at the Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council, and Eric Alston, Small Business Relationship Manager at Wacif, for an informative session featuring the Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council and the Washington Area Community Investment Fund (Wacif), two organizations committed to supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Learn about workforce training grants available through the Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council, including reimbursable grants of up to $4,500 for small- and mid-sized businesses to help upskill incumbent employees. Businesses may receive reimbursement for 50%–90% of eligible training costs, with funding available through October 1, 2026.

Attendees will also hear from Wacif, which provides financial capital, business advisory services, and networking support to underinvested entrepreneurs across the Washington, D.C. region. Since 1987, Wacif has deployed more than $50 million in capital and supported thousands of local entrepreneurs and jobs.
