Our next Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 3 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on the Zoom platform. At this meeting, we will welcome the 2024 Chair of the Arlington County Board. The Chair will be announced and sworn in at the January 2 organizational meeting. At the Committee meeting, the Chair will discuss priorities for 2024 as they relate to business and is highly interested in hearing members’ opinions and feedback.

The Chamber's free monthly Small Business Roundtable is an important educational and networking opportunity for small businesses. This event provides expert speakers on topics to help you grow your business, such as digital marketing and business development, and also gives you the opportunity to make connections and grow your professional network. The forum is applicable to a variety of businesses and employee levels, from front-line customer service to owners.

THIS MONTH'S TOPIC: Employee Retention Credit Update: Learn about the New Government Policies and When You Can Expect Your Refund, presented by Peter Haukebo, Esq. and Rebecca Sheppard, Esq., Tax Directors at Frost Law.

There is no question that many employers were prime candidates for the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) . However, aggressive marketing companies and bad actors started flooding the market, which prompted the IRS to implement a processing moratorium while it figured out how to implement better scrutiny and verification for ERC filings. This course will inform prudent employers on their next steps and what to expect from the IRS in the coming months. Along with recent ERC updates, attendees will learn the particulars surrounding the Corporate Transparency Act that is set to impact a significant amount of businesses.
