IT’S TIME TO ORDER KIWANIS BLUEBERRIES

The Kiwanis Club of Arlington is taking orders for 10-pound boxes of freshly-picked blueberries again this year. Healthful, nutritious and delicious, berries are trucked directly to Arlington from a family farm in New Jersey the day after they are picked. The blueberries are expected to arrive in Arlington June 23 and be available for pick up June 24 and 25 at Cherrydale Methodist Church, 3701 Lorcum Lane.

The cost for a 10-pound box is $40, and orders may be placed online at www.arlingtonvakiwanis.com. Customers also have an option to purchase boxes of blueberries for donation to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) for distribution to Arlington’s neediest families. Please consider adding a box or two for AFAC to your order and Kiwanis will deliver the berries directly to AFAC.

This is the ninth year for Kiwanis blueberry sales, which have grown by leaps and bounds. Last year, sales increased 40% over the previous year and more than a ton of blueberries were purchased for donation to AFAC. Proceeds from blueberry sales also benefit the Kiwanis scholarship program for Arlington high school graduates, and non-profits such as Arlington Thrive, Bridges to Independence, The Salvation Army, National Capital Treatment & Recovery, VHC Pediatrics, Arlington YMCA, ASPIRE! After-School Learning, and many others.

The Ecology of a Healthy Flourishing Organization by Kathy Minardi

This presentation will draw from the science of community building with an emphasis on the insights and contribution of Bowen Family Systems Theory as applied to the leadership of an organization. We are, as humans, deeply interconnected within the emotional field of the family system of our workplaces and organizations as well as our families. The discoveries of Dr. Murray Bowen were made here in Washington DC at NIH in the 1950s. They have been importantly applied to our work as organizational leaders and facilitators of generative growth and change. This work has not been the dominant narrative in psychology or the field of leadership in the past but is now becoming strengthened and explored in our complex times.

Encouraging Diversity of Thought and Opinion While Maintaining Relationships in a Virtual World by Jennifer Hart

Virtual and hybrid workplaces offer greater flexibility . . . and challenges that are becoming increasingly urgent and important for organizations to address with new, growing, and evolving teams. This interactive session will examine three key factors for encouraging diversity of thought and opinions in a virtual world: What DEIAB looks AND feels like; shifting communication and conflict norms; and ways to build and deepen trust.
