This series of networking events is open to all women to expand your network, share knowledge, exchange ideas, and offer advice. The events focus on networking to grow your business opportunities and support others who know what it’s like to be a woman in business. As an added bonus, attendees will be registered to win a $50 gift card to local family-owned restaurant, Lebanese Taverna, compliments of Arlington Community Federal Credit Union. Winner will be chosen at end of event. Must be present to win.

The event will feature some quick tips and ideas from Rhoda Wheeler, Owner of Agents in Style Consignment Boutique, on how to define and refine your best look for presentations, including updated ideas for Zoom and other virtual events. Arlington County has commenced its annual budget-setting process. The County Manager presented his budget proposal in February and now the County Board will hold work sessions and meet with community members over the next month. All of this effort will culminate in April with the adoption of Arlington County’s FY 2022 budget (for July 2021 through June 2022). On Wednesday, March 3 at 9:00 a.m., the Chamber’s Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will welcome Richard Stephenson, Arlington County Budget Director, and Emily Hughes, Arlington County Budget Deputy Director, to discuss and answer questions about the budget-setting process.

Please join us on March 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for EcoAction Arlington’s 43rd annual meeting, “Nurturing, Illuminating, and Preserving Nature in Arlington.”

This event will continue EcoAction Arlington’s exploration of connecting to nature with our 2021 event series Love Our Living World. The meeting will open with welcoming remarks by Matt de Ferranti, Arlington County Board Chair. The event’s featured speaker will be Alonso Abugattas, Arlington County’s Natural Resources Manager, who will speak about the special elements of the living world in Arlington, the County’s protection efforts, and how individuals can contribute to these efforts.

The event will also include the election of our board of directors and an overview of our programming for 2021. After the featured presentation, we will offer participants the opportunity to explore ways they can nurture and preserve nature through local organizations and groups. These conversations will take part during our virtual social with exhibits via Zoom breakout rooms.

As a Veteran I want to give back to my Brothers and Sisters in Arms, so I just started a new Facebook group to do a FREE Live monthly Hypnotherapy session for those who wish to participate. The group is entitled "Giving Back: Hypnotherapy for Veterans." This is only for Veterans and I will ask that prospective members show some proof of service to join the group if I don't know you personally. That being said, because I wish to respect everyone's privacy, that can be as simple as sharing a picture of you in uniform, a picture of a promotion certificate or having someone in the group vouch for your service (specifying your branch). Hypnotherapy sessions are typically $190 / hour but these monthly sessions will be FREE. For those who are interested please register for the upcoming session on my website and then join the Facebook group. Both links are below. Live sessions will be conducted via the Facebook group and will be hosted via Facebook Live, Zoom and / or StreamYard.

Agenda

The Arlington Chamber has extended invitations to all candidates running for Governor or Lieutenant Governor to speak with the committee and take questions. On Wednesday, March 17 at 9:00 a.m., we will welcome the first four candidates who have accepted our invitation: Peter Doran (Republican for Governor), Del. Elizabeth Guzmán (Democrat for Lt. Governor), Andria McClellan (Democrat for Lt. Governor), and Del. Winsome Sears (Republican for Lt. Governor).

Each candidate will have 15 minutes to give brief remarks (no more than 5 minutes) and to take questions from committee members. The candidates will join us one at a time, in sequence; there will be no direct back-and-forth or debate amongst the candidates. We encourage everyone to arrive promptly at 9:00 a.m. (or even a couple of minutes) early so that we can get started without delay. That said, due to the logistics of speakers entering and exiting, this meeting will likely run until 10:15 a.m.
