Arlington County is nearing the completion of its work on updating the Clarendon Sector Plan to update policy guidance for development in that neighborhood. County Staff shared its draft plan earlier this month and is working toward County Board approval in early 2022.

Brett Wallace of the Arlington County Planning Division will join the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee on Wednesday, December 15 at 9:00-10:00 a.m. to share details about the draft and the process from here and to hear questions and feedback from Chamber members.

Also, as with our in-person meetings in the VIDA Fitness Boardroom, participation in this online Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee meeting is strictly for members of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. LeadShare provides introductions and warm referrals to member businesses and business leaders within the Arlington community. The group meets to build relationships, share best business practices, and discuss types of clients and opportunities members are targeting.

Provided as a free member benefit of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, any member is eligible to participate in LeadShare. However, participation in the group will ultimately be limited to one vertical industry per member. The Chamber maintains a waiting list for additional interest.

Parking
The Chamber office is located 0.2 mile from the Courthouse Metro station (Orange & Silver lines). Two hour metered street parking is available in front of the Chamber office. There is also two hour metered parking in the ground lot at 14th Street & Courthouse Road, across from the Arlington Courthouse. An underground parking lot is available at 14th Street & Taft Street with rates of $4 (1 hour), $6 (2 hours), and $8 (until closing).

Join the Arlington Chamber of Commerce for our Nonprofit Forum: Planned Giving Best Practices on Monday, December 6, from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m., presented by the Chamber’s Community Action Committee.

Many planned gift options exist, including gift annuities, gifts of life insurance, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, and pooled income funds. Panelists will discuss their tips and lessons learned for developing and improving a planned giving program, followed by audience Q&A.

After the Q&A, breakout rooms will be open for networking and further discussion. This forum is open to nonprofits and businesses.

This series of roundtable events, which typically focuses on women business owners, will welcome all businesswomen for this special session, allowing us to end this first year of our Women in Business program together. On Saturday, DJ Touch Basis will bring the cheer all day long – not to be outdone by Santa Claus, who will join the Market from 1pm – 4pm. A ‘Letters to Santa’ mailbox will be available for children to send Santa their wish list, and a Toys for Tots cruiser will be onsite to accept wrapped gifts. At 4pm, enjoy a performance by a woodwind quintet from the famed U.S. Army Band!
