LeadShare provides introductions and warm referrals to member businesses and business leaders within the Arlington community. The group meets to build relationships, share best business practices, and discuss types of clients and opportunities members are targeting.

Provided as a free member benefit of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, any member is eligible to participate in LeadShare. However, participation in the group will ultimately be limited to one vertical industry per member. The Chamber maintains a waiting list for additional interest.

This series of events focuses on women business owners and will be an open forum to discuss the challenges and successes of women who understand what it takes to own and run a business. The format will include roundtable power networking and guest speakers, and will give you tools that can help you grow and manage your business. *Attendees will be registered to win a $50 gift card to local woman-owned restaurant, Sushi Zen, compliments of Arlington Community Federal Credit Union. Winner will be chosen at end of event. Must be present to win.

This Month's Speaker: Fireside Chat: How to Keep Going Despite Obstacles. Karen Bate of KB Concepts P.R. will talk with Rebecca Linder, Founder & CEO of Linder Global Events.

What would you do if your life revolved around events for hundreds of thousands of people, like the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, and suddenly the world stopped? As CEO of a thriving large-scale events business, the pandemic has been an obvious obstacle to overcome. Other obstacles Rebecca faced include being a female business owner in a male-dominated industry and being thought of as “too young” to have a legitimate business. Find out how to be resilient, overcome obstacles, recharge and keep going.

To be eligible you must be a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses. This includes any profession in which you are 100% personally responsible for any failure or success, and you have to run the business itself and acquire your own customers.

On Wednesday, October 6 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will hold its Annual Work Session to discuss the Chamber’s Public Policy Positions for 2022. This meeting will cover both the General Assembly and Local Government positions. For reference, you can see the Chamber’s 2021 Public Policy Positions on the Chamber website.

This meeting will be in person in the VIDA Fitness Boardroom at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, 2009 14^th Street N, Suite 100. As Arlington is currently experiencing a substantial spread of COVID-19, we encourage everyone, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask unless eating or drinking, or keeping a 6-foot distance from others. Participation in this Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee work session is strictly for private sector members of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.

We welcome members to contribute thoughts for our 2022 policy positions even if are unable to attend, or not comfortable joining in person at this time – please send ideas to Government Affairs Director Scott E. Parking
The Chamber office is located 0.2 mile from the Courthouse Metro station (Orange & Silver lines). Two hour metered street parking is available in front of the Chamber office. There is also two hour metered parking in the ground lot at 14th Street & Courthouse Road, across from the Arlington Courthouse. An underground parking lot is available at 14th Street & Taft Street with rates of $4 (1 hour), $6 (2 hours), and $8 (until closing).

Arlington County has released a draft Pentagon City Plan to update policy guidance for development in that neighborhood. The draft plan establishes a development framework covering land use and development, transportation, public space, and site and building forms.

Matt Mattauszek of the Arlington County Planning Division will join the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee on Wednesday, October 20 at 9:00-10:00 a.m. to share details about the draft and the process from here and to hear questions and feedback from Chamber members.
