The Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will welcome members of the Arlington delegation to the Virginia General Assembly at its two meetings in September. The Senators and Delegates will look ahead to the 2020 session and take Chamber members’ questions. Joining us on Wednesday, September 4 are Senator Barbara Favola, Delegate Mark Levine, and Delegate Alfonso Lopez.

The meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce – VIDA Fitness Boardroom. As always, participation in the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee is open to all Chamber members, and is exclusive to Chamber members. The Chamber is pleased to announce the 2019 business-themed Candidate Forum. Current County Board Chair Christian Dorsey (D) and Member Katie Cristol (D) are running for re-election and are being challenged by Audrey Clement (I) and Arron O’Dell (I).

This business-themed candidate forum features a moderated discussion of topics important to the Arlington business community with the four candidates running for two seats on the Arlington County Board. The event will provide candidates the opportunity to engage with local business leaders and address the key issues affecting the business community.

This event focuses on roundtable power networking and provides attendees the chance to exchange business cards, develop new prospects and share a 60 second pitch with each table. Bring plenty of business cards- you'll need them! This Breakfast Connection will be held in partnership with the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce. Registration includes a full buffet breakfast with coffee, tea and juice.

Parking & Metro

The Ballston Mall parking garage can be accessed from either North Randolph Street or North Glebe Road. The ice complex is situated at the top of the parking garage on the 8th floor. Parking rate for under 3 hours costs $1. If using the metro, take the Orange/Silver line to the Ballston-MU station. Once you get to the top of the escalator, turn right and make a quick left onto North Stuart Street. Enter the Ballston Quarter and take the main elevators to the 8^th floor and the reception will be held above the Caps practice rink.

Each year the Commonwealth buys goods and services totaling more than $8 billion. The Commonwealth of Virginia wants to do business with you and increase participation of small, women owned, and minority-owned businesses.
