&lt;p&gt;We&amp;rsquo;re now a quarter way through 2019, and it&amp;rsquo;s been a busy and successful season for advocacy at the Chamber. We had the General Assembly session in January and February, which saw the enactment of legislation on which the Chamber weighed in. But, while our legislators were hard at work in Richmond, there was much keeping us busy here in Arlington. The Chamber advised Arlington County on the update of the Master Transportation Plan bicycle element and encouraged the implementation of the Child Care Initiative. &amp;nbsp;We also leapt to action to preserve access for Special GLUP Studies, a type of development project. And, we rallied together with the broader Arlington community to support the approval of the Amazon headquarters performance agreement.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;At our Government Affairs &amp;amp; Economic Development Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 3, from 9:00-10:00 a.m., we will review our 2019 to date, and talk about our plans for the spring. As always, the committee will meet in the Chamber Boardroom, 2009 14&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; Street N, Suite 100, and participation is open to all Chamber members. We hope to see you there.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;u&gt;Help Skill-up A Teenager!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Forty percent of the Top 50 skills desired by the Greater Washington region&amp;#39;s employers are essential work-place skills. (Source: Alexandria/Arlington Regional Workforce Council) These skills include professional communication, self-motivation, and problem solving.&amp;nbsp;One of the few places high school&amp;nbsp;sophomores can be introduced to these skills is in the workplace.&amp;nbsp;Your participation in the 2019 Job Shadow Day will provide 75 students with their first introduction to the skills that they will be using for the rest of their lives.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once confirmed, you will need to complete APS permission and volunteer forms.&amp;nbsp;By donating your time and expertise, you will give the gift of career exposure to a student as well as help to build your future workforce.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

Investor Panel 4/11/2019 6:00 PM - 4/11/2019 8:00 PM</title><description>&lt;p&gt;Arlington Career Center Students, grades 9-12, in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) will present their business plans before a panel of local business leaders at the Investor Panel Event at Marymount University.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Each student business will have five minutes to pitch their business plans to the panel of investors. The panel will then ask each student three questions. Based on the appeal and merit of the students&amp;rsquo; plans and presentations, representatives from investor companies will determine the amount of funds to allocate to each business or social movement.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The participating investors will also select the one business group that will advance to the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Saunders Scholars National College Scholarship competition, where they will compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships and the opportunity to present their business plan at the America&amp;rsquo;s Small Business Summit in Washington, DC.&lt;/p&gt;
