We invite you to kick-off the holiday season with us on Giving Tuesday! After Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday! This is a global day dedicated to giving back to your favorite charities and kicks off the charitable season as many prepare for the holidays and end-of-the-year giving. This year, Giving Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. This year, OAR's Giving Tuesday campaign is geared towards raising funds to support our Project Winter Cheer program and we cannot do this without your help. OAR's Project Winter Cheer program provides new, unwrapped, holiday gifts for children who have a parent experiencing incarceration or has been recently released from incarceration and is involved in OAR's programs. These gifts are collected with the help of the community through OAR's Annual Toy Drive. Each child participating in this program will receive three gifts along with a handwritten letter from their parent incarcerated, reminding them that even though they are not able to physically spend the holidays together, they are always thinking about them. This holiday season, with the help of the community, OAR is spreading joy to children and families impacted by incarceration through OAR’s Project Winter Cheer program (formerly known as Project Christmas Angel). OAR will hold the Project Winter Cheer “Wrapping Party” event on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Arlington. RSVP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT! RSVP at http://bit.ly/PWCRSVP19 Held for over 20 years, OAR’s Project Winter Cheer Wrapping Party event is one of OAR’s largest events of the year. OAR hosts a Toy Drive from October through early December every year on behalf of the community to collect holiday gifts for children of incarcerated and recently released parents. All these gifts are wrapped and packaged for delivery during the Project Winter Cheer Wrapping Party event. OAR’s Toy Drive and Project Winter Cheer program were created in an effort to provide another way for those experiencing incarceration to connect with their children over the holidays, as these relationships are often strained and challenged during and after incarceration.
