On Wednesday, October 2, the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will hold its Annual Work Session to discuss the Chamber’s Public Policy Positions for 2020. This meeting will cover both the General Assembly and Local Government positions.

The meeting will be at 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce – VIDA Fitness Boardroom. Participation in this Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee meeting is exclusive to Chamber members.

Two hour metered parking is available in front of the Chamber office. There is also two hour metered parking in the ground lot at 14th Street & Courthouse Road, across from the Arlington Courthouse. Promote your business before the workday even begins. The format of the Breakfast Connection gives attendees a chance to bring their business to the table, literally. This event focuses on roundtable power networking and provides attendees the chance to exchange business cards, develop new prospects and share a 60 second pitch with each table. Bring plenty of business cards- you'll need them! This Breakfast Connection will be held in partnership with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Registration includes a full buffet breakfast with coffee, tea and juice.

On Wednesday, October 16, the Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will welcome Jim Larsen and Ritch Viola from the Department of Environmental Services to discuss proposals for regulating shared mobility devices, such as e-scooters, following the pilot due to complete at the end of the year. Then, Jennifer Smith and Kimberly Vacca from the Department of Community Planning, Housing, and Development will discuss a proposed Zoning Ordinance amendment related to bonus density/height provisions.
