Event Description: Bowen McCauley Dance, DC’s premiere professional contemporary dance company (--The Washington Post) presents its final season performance with a new premiere to celebrate its return to Signature Theatre – Ark Friday and Saturday, June 23rd and 24th – Showtime 8:00 PM. About the performance: Premiered in fall of 2016, Petit Four is choreographed by Ilana Goldman and takes its lead from the music, comprised of movements from various Antonio Vivaldi Cello Concerti. A visualization of the score, Petit Four is light, playful, and energetic, with other parts contemplative and subdued. In honor of the 100th Anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s birth, BMD’s Artistic Director and Choreographer, Lucy Bowen McCauley has created a solo piece, El Cant dels Ocells for guest artist, Ilana Goldman using the marvelous recording of Spanish Cellist, Pablo Casals’ Song of the Birds, which he performed at the White House in 1961. BMD’s world premiere, choreographed by Lucy Bowen McCauley especially for the Signature Theatre, will be a unique and highly physical experience performed by some of the top dance talent in-town!
