Event Description: EMPTY BOWLS FUNDRAISER FOR ARLINGTON FOOD ASSISTANCE CENTER (AFAC) The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) will hold its annual Empty Bowls luncheon on Sunday, February 5, 2017 to raise funds to support AFAC clients. The event brings together the creativity of artists and restaurant chefs along with members of the community for a meal that features delicious soups in hand-thrown bowls made by local potters. Guests receive wonderful soup luncheons and their choice of a hand-thrown ceramic bowl to bring home as a reminder that there are people in our community with empty bowls. All is generously donated: handcrafted bowls from local potters, the freshly prepared soups from restaurants, desserts from volunteers, breads from local bakers and the event space. When: Sunday, February 5, 2017, 11:30 am – 2:00 pm (two seatings: 11:30 am – 12:45 pm; 12:45-2:00 pm). Where: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 4000 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, VA 22207 Tickets are $35; Children 5 and under are free. For nearly 30 years, AFAC has provided Arlington County residents dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries. Arlington County’s high cost of living coupled with the tough economic conditions mean that many families struggle to make ends meet. AFAC makes sure families don’t have to sacrifice food to make ends meet.
