Event Description: Bring Us Your Hot Stuff! Third Annual ROCKLANDS Hot Sauce Contest to Benefit the DC Firefighters Burn Foundation Arlington, VA, August 10, 2016 – ROCKLANDS Barbeque and Grilling Company, home of the hot-sauce Wall of Fire, will host its third annual hot sauce contest on Thursday, September 8. Contestants can submit a batch of their homemade sauce to be judged. Everyone and anyone is welcome to attend the evening pig roast, judging and tasting. Tickets will be $25 at the door (cash or credit card), for all-you-care-to-eat barbeque carved off a whole roasted pig, sides and Flying Dog craft beer. All proceeds benefit the D.C. Burn Foundation which is dedicated to assisting in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured firefighters and burn survivors through burn research, treatment and survivor support programs. “The hot sauce contest is one of the best food events in the area and not only are we thrilled to take part in this, but we are honored to be this year’s charity donation,” said Foundation president Jason Woods. “We are 100 percent reliant on donations and all donations benefit local firefighters burned in the line of duty as well as burn survivors in the D.C. metro area.” How to compete: All entries (hot sauces) must be submitted to Will or Brad at ROCKLANDS Arlington by 12 noon on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Please submit at least a 20-ounce portion of hot sauce, clearly labeled with your name and contact information; we do NOT need your recipe. Contestants must be present to win. Contest will be limited to the first 25 entries. There will be a trophy (and bragging rights) for 1st and 2nd place. (This year, there will also be a Fan Favorite trophy – bring your friends to vote for you!) No bribes accepted. As the judges are tasting, everyone else can also taste the competing sauces and vote on the Fan Favorite. (Did we mention, bring your friends to vote for you?) Dean Dupuis of Brasserie Beck – who just won top honors in June’s Lamb Jam – was runner up in last year’s ROCKLANDS Hot Sauce Contest. He says he is coming back … and brewing a sauce to win.
