Event Description: See Between the Lines provokes a response to the moving image. The three works on the program are collaborations with visual artists. In Incidence, a life-size kinetic sculpture created by Howard Connelly is manipulated by the dancers. As dancers reconfigure the sculpture’s puzzle-like parts from vertical to horizontal, it restricts and elevates. Nested is performed with Rosemary Covey’s Not A Day Goes By, a visual art piece created by using eight wood blocks printed on Japanese paper and painted. The work references memory but can also be viewed as purely from nature. Small shimmering flower petals come to life in response to the quick passages of the performers. Wash Over You Part I finds travelers moved along an unpredictable, serene yet powerful river. There are many stopping places but can they get ‘off the boat?” Along the way, you’ll be on a raft, on dry land and on the wrong side of the fence. The only thing to do is pack your bag, stuff your friend into a trunk and let this new work Wash Over You.
