Event Description: Using classical ballet as the point of departure, artistic director Lucy Bowen McCauley creates emotionally charged dances that defy categorization, set to musical scores ranging from Brahms to Stravinsky to country rock legends Jason and The Scorchers. Dance Magazine describer the choreography as "always thoughtful, and often witty. Bowen McCauley Dance (BMD), recognized by the Washington Post as "DC's premier contemporary dance company," maintains a commitment to collaboration and live musical accompaniment. Now in its 18th season, the award-winning company brings together scenic designer Tony Cisek; lighting designer Martha Mountain; guest artists Ilana Goldman and Gabriel Williams; and an ensemble of accomplished classical musicians, including Jason Ringenberg and Warner Hodges, for an evening of dance and music. Four works will be presented, including two world premiere pieces--a lush work for the full Company and Far Behind, a heart-wrenching duet that will eventually be part of an evening-long collaboration between BMD and Jason and The Scorchers.
