Event Description: Be surrounded by ‘flowers’ and experience the expressive message they represent in Sweet Zinnia, a performance of new choreography, video and live music in partnership with Healing Hearts Through the Arts and Sweet Virginia. Sweet Virginia a Manassas based non-profit, grows stunning zinnias alongside honeybee colonies. They harvest the flowers and package the blooms to deliver to others. The flowers, which are integral to the live performance, will be presented to our audience members at its conclusion. The performance includes a premier work by Emily Crews for Forty+, a performing group of dancers past the age of 40, a dance video created at the bee farm and surrounding Lake Manassas by Jane Franklin, an inter-generational dance by Sue Skaddan, performances by Jane Franklin Dance and live music.


Directions:
Driving The Old Town Theater is located at 815 1/2 King Street in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria. We wish to eliminate the hassle of city parking for you, so valet parking is offered with ticket purchase (during the opening months valet parking is complimentary) or there is advance payment available for self-parking at the Alfred Street Garage which is right around the corner from the theater. Metro The theater is eight blocks from the King Street Metro Station serving the Blue and yellow lines. A short walk to the theater from the station or take advantage of the Old Town Trolley, offering free service from the Metro station to the waterfront passing right in front of the Old Town Theater.
