Event Description: Marymount University will host a symposium on new Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regulations that deal with assisting hospitals and healthcare providers with coordination of care for Medicare patients through Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). An ACO is a group of providers and care suppliers that will work together to coordinate and deliver patient-centered care. Under the Medicare Shared Savings Program, ACOs will be rewarded for lowering healthcare costs while meeting quality standards. The expert panel will discuss the benefits and disadvantages of ACOs on healthcare, current and future healthcare spending costs, and patient quality. The panel includes: Ms. Lisa V. Tofil, Esq., Partner, Holland and Knight in Public Policy and Regulation Group.
