This Month's Topic: Non-Competition Agreements: Are They In or Out for Virginia Businesses?
Description
In April 2024, the Federal Trade Commission adopted a rule banning U.S. employers from using non-compete agreements for virtually all employees. In August 2024, a federal court in Texas struck down the FTC’s ban, in a decision that applies to employers nationwide, including in Virginia. Litigation over the FTC’s Rule banning non-competes is still ongoing. Where does that leave Virginia employers and non-competes? Find out the latest from Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C., Shareholder, Doug Taylor. Join Doug for an interesting and informative discussion of the following timely topics for your business: • The FTC Rule: It’s out for now. Is it likely to return? • The National Labor Relations Board: Non-competes, including Stay-or-Pay provisions may violate federal labor law • Virginia State Law: Restrictions on non-competes for low-wage employees • Best Practices for Virginia employers
