On June 12th, Herndon High School will unveil a stunning new mural titled "Welcome to The Nest," dedicated to celebrating the vibrant school spirit and community of Herndon. The mural dedication ceremony, hosted by Lafayette Federal Credit Union and the Herndon Sports Boosters, will take place from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Herndon High School, with a catered lunch provided by Lafayette Federal.

The ceremony will feature remarks from several key figures, including Andrew Doepping – VP Member Relations for Lafayette Federal Credit Union, Amy Emmatty – Herndon Sports Boosters President, a representative from Herndon High School’s administration, Cell Spitfire – mural artist, as well as a student speaker. The event will begin with guest arrivals at 11:30am, followed by the official dedication at 12:00pm. After the dedication, guests are invited to enjoy lunch and networking under tents set up in the school parking lot.

"We are thrilled to support this wonderful initiative that not only beautifies the school, but also embodies the spirit and pride of the Herndon community," said Andrew Doepping of Lafayette Federal Credit Union. "This mural will be a lasting symbol of unity and inspiration for all students and staff."

Cell Spitfire, the artist behind the mural, shared his vision: "This mural, located on Herndon High School's football stadium broadcast tower, celebrates the school's spirit and pride. Featuring the fierce hornet mascot in a fighting stance and the bold texts 'Home of the Hornets' and 'Welcome to the Nest,' it creates a vibrant and welcoming statement. The starburst sunray background makes the mural pop, drawing attention as you arrive at the stadium and reflecting the dynamic energy of the Herndon High community."

The Chamber's free monthly Small Business Roundtable is an important educational and networking opportunity for small businesses. This event provides expert speakers on topics to help you grow your business, such as digital marketing and business development, and also gives you the opportunity to make connections and grow your professional network. The forum is applicable to a variety of businesses and employee levels, from front-line customer service to owners.

Description

You didn’t start your business to keep financial records and file taxes, but those are important activities for running a healthy business and making clear financial decisions. Plus, the IRS expects you to follow the income tax rules, whether you know them or not. Understanding the information needed for your tax return is valuable, even if you engage a tax professional.

This workshop will provide tax rule awareness and share reliable tax resources and tips about:

Allowable business tax deductions, including vehicle business use and home office
Financial and other recordkeeping to complete an accurate income tax return
Projecting federal and Virginia income tax liability and estimated tax payments
Income tax payment and filing requirements
Tax entity rules

Transportation

Complimentary parking will be available for all attendees at the Hampton Inn & Suites Crystal City DCA, our host's sister property right next door. From I-395, proceed down Route 1 and make a right into the parking garage at the Hampton Inn & Suites Crystal City DCA. Once in the garage, press the buzzer and state that you are attending the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Business After Business event, then the front desk will buzz you in. Please park on the ground level and take the elevator to the main/lobby level, where hotel staff will then direct you to the event space. The hotel is also accessible via Crystal City Metro (Yellow and Blue lines).

Prospective members are allowed to attend up to three (3) Chamber Networking (Breakfast Connection, Business After Business, Small Business Roundtable, Women in Business Networking) events as a guest.
