Tax day is just one week away. This is a common time for threat actors to create cyber scams targeting your employees. Here are some common threats your organization needs to look out for in the coming week: -Phishing Emails: Cyber criminals may send emails posing as legitimate tax authorities or financial institutions, requesting sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, financial details, or login credentials. These emails often contain urgent messages, threatening consequences if immediate action is not taken. -Fake Tax Returns: Scammers may file fraudulent tax returns using stolen personal information, aiming to claim refunds or commit identity theft. Employees should remain vigilant for any notifications from tax authorities about suspicious activity related to their tax filings. -Phone Scams: Fraudulent callers may impersonate IRS agents or tax professionals, using intimidation tactics to coerce individuals into providing personal or financial information over the phone. -Malicious Links and Attachments: Be cautious of unsolicited emails or messages containing links or attachments related to tax forms, refunds, or financial transactions. These could lead to malware infections or phishing websites designed to steal sensitive information. One of our Threat Intelligence Analysts, Carmen D., is noticing an uptick in AI-enhanced vishing attacks. Protect yourself by reading her primer on avoiding these scams below. Thanks for your expertise, Carmen! The Rise of AI-Enhanced Vishing Attacks We're witnessing a concerning evolution in the tactics employed by cybercriminals. While the use of AI in crafting phishing emails has garnered attention, it's crucial to recognize its expanding role in voice phishing, or vishing, as well. AI-powered voice generation technology has made it remarkably easy for malicious actors to mimic specific individuals' voices. With just a snippet of audio, like a recorded phone call or a social media video, cyber criminals can create convincing audio messages impersonating trusted figures. This advancement has paved the way for AI-powered vishing attacks, allowing perpetrators to target individuals, including friends, family, and colleagues, with close to perfect accuracy. One prevalent tactic involves impersonating high-ranking executives or managers within organizations. Victims could receive a call from someone claiming to be from upper management, urgently requesting assistance with a project. Subsequently, they might be directed to wire money to meet a deadline. Unfortunately, following these instructions would result in transferring funds to cybercriminals. To safeguard against these AI-enhanced vishing attacks, consider the following precautions: - Verify Unexpected Message: When receiving unexpected communications, always verify the sender's identity through reliable channels such as known phone numbers, official email addresses, or internal messaging systems. - Ask Questions: When engaging with callers, pose questions that would be challenging for imposters to answer correctly. This can help verify their legitimacy. - Exercise Caution and Critical Thinking: Even in urgent situations, take a moment to assess the request's legitimacy. Consider whether the task aligns with your responsibilities and whether standard procedures are being followed. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of cyber threats, it's imperative to remain vigilant. By staying informed and adopting proactive security measures, we can collectively mitigate the risks posed by AI-enhanced vishing attacks. #CyberSecurity #VishingAttacks #AI #FraudPrevention

We're excited to announce the approval of our latest patent protecting our systems and methods for detecting and remedying the theft of data. While most threat intelligence vendors merely alert victims to stolen data, we go one step further to remove that data before it can cause further harm. "We are thrilled to receive this patent, which validates our comprehensive approach to cybersecurity," said Adam Bregenzer, chief technology and product officer at GroupSense. "This patent further proves our ability to proactively protect our clients from cyber attacks; preventing business interruption, revenue loss, and reputational damage." Had an incredible experience last weekend speaking at BSides Sofia with Nikol about doxing and digital privacy! It's reassuring to see that people are taking notice of this incredibly important topic in today's digital age. Nothing speaks more about the relevance of this topic, than threat actors discussing our talk at Deep Web. And nothing speaks more about the value of the event itself, than seeing blackhats attending. A big thanks to the people behind BSides Sofia for putting together such an amazing event, and to the other speakers for sharing their insights. Also big thanks to Nicole . , for being such a great team. #BSidesSofia #Doxing #DigitalPrivacy
