Event Description:
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will host the 2011 National Trademark Expo on October 14-15 at the USPTO’s headquarters in Alexandria, Va. The free two-day event is designed to educate the public about the value of trademarks in the global marketplace. Exhibitors will showcase their trademarks through educational exhibits. The Expo will feature educational workshops for adults and children, exhibits of authentic and counterfeit goods, and costumed characters. Adult educational lectures will include lectures on "What Every Small Business Should Know About Intellectual Property," "Why Buy `Legit'? . . . Economic & Health/Safety Risks of Counterfeiting & Piracy," "Common Mistakes to Avoid When Filing for Trademark Registration," and "Trademarks 101" which covers basic facts about trademarks and trademark law. A video made to instruct pro se applicants will play in the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum throughout the Expo. For more information, visit www.uspto.gov/TMExpo. Directions:
Ride Metro Rail to the King Street Station. Take a right when exiting the station. Follow the sidewalk through the Duke Street pedestrian underpass to the Expo. Garage parking is available and is free on Saturday.
