Event Description:
Doorways for Women and Families and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue are excited for our 7th Annual Dog Walk, the Halloween Spooky Paws Stroll, on Saturday, October 28 from 10am-12pm in the Loop in Clarendon (https://www.doorwaysva.org/donate/ways-to-give/seasonal-giving/howl-o-ween-dog-walk/) Participants will follow a map through Clarendon businesses for trick-or-treating--stop off for human or doggie goodies, coupons to local businesses, and more. Meet up back at the dog park for announcements of the winning costumes! This year we’re adding an online pet costume contest for cat lovers (or owners of shy dogs too!) https://www.doorwaysva.org/donate/ways-to-give/seasonal-giving/howl-o-ween-dog-walk/costume-contest/) The Spooky Paws dog walk benefits Doorways and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, both Arlington-based nonprofit organizations. The event also raises awareness of the impact of domestic violence and homelessness on both humans and pets. The event includes a dog walk with trick-or-treating and a costume contest. The walk itself begins and ends at the Loop at Market Common Clarendon. Trick-or-treating takes place along a route of nearby businesses that have signed up to be stops on the walk. These businesses offer treats and promotional items valued at $5+ per person to walk participants. Brief ceremonies take place at the start and finish of the event to thank sponsors and participants and announce fundraising and costume contest results.
